Wii U Specs Prove to be Beyond Impressive

It’s no lie that the staff here at Gamers Xtreme is extremely excited for the Wii U’s release. Granted, we didn’t see many games running on the system during E3, but the innovation is there yet again thanks to Nintendo’s creative visions. According to the information Wii U Daily retrieved from a Japanese developer who is currently porting a PS3 game to the Wii U, the system is certainly 50% more powerful than the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Here are the specs that were unveiled:

  • Quad Core, 3 GHz PowerPC-based 45nm CPU which is similar to the Xbox 360’s chip.
  • 768 MB of DRAM that is “embedded” with the CPU, and shared between CPU and GPU.
  • Unknown, 40nm ATI-based GPU.

The source also stated that Nintendo is in the current process of testing out two different versions of the console. One version that has the 768 MB of RAM while the other is reported to have 1 GB of RAM. The RAM is embedded with the processor which will also result in more bandwidth support. The RAM is confirmed to be in development by IBM as I have spoken to an IBM representative a few months ago that notified me of this.

Holy S***!!! Nintendo really isnt playing this time around. I am very happy to hear that news honestly because between Sony and Microsoft I could really use a company that cares about their consumers! This whole generation has been nothing more than Xbox and Sony fanboys destroying the industry and PC fanboys as well and we all realize how nerdish and childish it has become. Nintendo its your turn this time around hope you guys triumph over all!

Well said Marchetto427! This generation has been a bit childish with the constant fanboyism that ultimately proves nothing. Nintendo knows what they’re doing and I have complete faith in them that they’ll win back a large amount of their crowd once the Wii U releases.
