Dragon Age II Expansion Pack…Already Cancelled

March 20, 2012

News

Since there hasn’t been any major Dragon Age II-related news for a while (perhaps since the release of the Mark of the Assassin DLC), some fans might be shocked to hear that an expansion pack, tentatively titled “Exalted March”, was in the works. Just as quickly as that news arrived, so did a message surface from Executive Producer Mark Darrah that the expansion pack has been cancelled.

“The latest and greatest patch for DAII is out, addressing a number of the issues you have helped us track on our tech support forums, … Thank you again to those of you who took the time to submit feedback in order to help us make the game better. And finally, while we will still be keeping an eye out for any issues that might crop up in DAII and supporting the community should any emergencies should arise, we’re moving the entire team’s focus to the next phase of Dragon Age’s future.”

What does this mean? According to the official post on the BioWare forums, the team will be visiting conventions across the country to get fan feedback directly so that they can truly have a hand in the direction the franchise takes next. Perhaps after fan feedback in relation to Dragon Age II and Mass Effect 3, BioWare felt it was time to get more in touch with the fanbase and truly understand what they want, so that Dragon Age III will be everything fans can expect from the BioWare they know and love(d).
