Wii U Controller has been Redesigned

May 19, 2012

At Nintendo’s E3 Press Conference last June, Nintendo showed off their newest console hitting the market later this year, the Wii U. When announced, the main hook of the unveiling was the tablet-style controller. Today, an image was posted on Twitter showing off the slightly redesigned tablet.

As you can see in the image, the Wii U logo is now on the bottom left of the controller as opposed to the bottom middle. The Plus and Minus buttons (Start and Select) are now placed on the right hand side of the controller as opposed to the sides of the Home button. However, the biggest new design from the front view of the controller are the analog sticks. Now, instead of having Circle Pads, they have legitimate Analog Sticks. There’s a bit more to the new design according to some concept images of the controller according to NeoGAF. Check out the slideshow below to see the comparison between the original and redesigned concept.

I’m not exactly all for the new Nintendo console. It does look like a good idea however unless there are some games I would enjoy on it I won’t pick it up. (I made that mistake with the Wii) Although I think this is a good idea… I kind of feel like it’s just another gimmick like the motion controller or the 3D on the 3DS.

Your real mistake with the Wii was picking one up expecting content generated toward core gamers. There’s a difference in marketing strategy for this new console (or so Nintendo has said). The supposed launch lineup for this new console will more than likely prove that difference in strategy to be factual.
