New Gears of War Title at E3

May 31, 2012

Epic Games has announced that they’ll be putting a new Gears of War game on display at E3 this Monday. This announcement came out along with Game Informer’s latest issue, whose cover previewed the cover for the new game, as seen below.

So what can we expect? For those of you who made it to the end of Gears of War 3’s stunning campaign, Epic wrapped up the overarching storyline of the first three games very nicely. It’s called Gears of War, so who will we be seeing our COGs fighting this time around? The Stranded perhaps? This would make an interesting angle, especially considering that many COGs were former Stranded who enlisted. And who’s in chains above? As far as the technology goes, it’s more than likely we’ll be seeing a demonstration of Unreal Engine 4 at E3, likely turning this less into a preview for the game and more of a tech demo. Still, it’ll be nice to see where Epic wants to take their franchise, and their technology, from here.
